On December 7, 2021 Southern Marin Fire District and Mill Valley Fire attended disaster response drills at various Mill Valley School District sites to work with students and staff. Several subjects pertaining to emergency and disaster response were covered throughout the exercise.

The subjects that were covered included:

◾ Disaster medicine

◾ Triage

◾ Search and rescue

Southern Marin Fire District recognizes the importance of working with our community including schools and Neighborhood Response Groups to improve disaster resiliency. This enhances our whole community's response following earthquakes and natural disasters.

If you would like more information about joining a Southern Marin Neighborhood Response Group (NRG) in your neighborhood, please email nrg@smfd.org

About Neighborhood Response Groups:

Neighborhood Response Groups (NRGs) are grassroots-led neighborhoods that prepare as a community for largescale emergencies, such as earthquakes and floods. NRG members take responsibility to prepare themselves as best they can and to help each other as neighbors. The strength of the program is based on the social cohesion of neighbors who have a good reason to get to know each other despite  busy lives – to help look out for one another and their families when or if disaster strikes.  We create the village again.
