After Christmas, it’s important to get rid of the tree or when it is dry. Dried-out trees are a fire danger and should not be left in the home or garage, or placed outside against the home. Also, bring outdoor electrical lights inside after the holidays to prevent hazards and make them last longer.

Preparation:
To prepare your tree for both curbside collection and drop-off:
• Remove all tree stands (metal, plastic, wood), ornaments, lights, tinsel, etc.
• Flocked trees will not be accepted.
• Trees over 5ft must be cut in half.
• Apartment building tenants should contact their manager and request that they set up one day for holiday tree collection at the property.

Sausalito:
Bay Cities Refuse Service advises residents in Sausalito that your tree may be placed at the curbside with your green bin on your regular garbage pickup day. If you would like to dispose of your tree earlier, Bay Cities has a debris box at the MLK parking lot off of Coloma Street from Tuesday, December 28, 2021 through Monday, January 17, 2022. Mill Valley:
Mill Valley Refuse advises that residents in Almonte, Alto, Mill Valley, Homestead, and Strawberry that your tree may be picked up starting the week of January 3, 2022. Please put tree on the curb on your regular green waste pick-up day.
Tamalpais:
Tamalpais Community Services District advises residents in Tam Valley/Unincorporated Marin to place your tree on curb during your regular collection day during the dates of Tuesday, January 11 through Friday, January 14, 2022. If you place your tree before January 11th or after January 14th, a $30 charge for collection will be enforced. Please cut your tree into pieces up to 2 feet long and 4 inches in diameter, and placed into the green cart. Lid must close.
