On Sunday, January 23rd, Southern Marin Fire District Prevention Specialist McKenna Ramiro, Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Madison Mead and Communications Coordinator Elysha Omoomy attended Northern California Girl Scouts of Marin's Comprehensive Hands-on Safety Training Event.
This workshop empowered and prepared Junior Girl Scouts to help themselves and others during injury, and how to respond during an emergency. Upon completion of this workshop, each girl earned their Girl Scout Junior First Aid Badge and Safety Pin!
Southern Marin Fire District covered the following items:
• Fire Alarms: How to check them, how often, what to do if they go off.
• Evacuation: Know your exits; How to get out safely (check doors, stay low, etc.)
• “When out, stay out”: Meet up points/ Family safety zones
• Emergency bags: What should be in a go-bag (Handout N95 Masks)
• In case of an emergency: Who to call, what to do, knowing your address and other streets
around; Don’t be scared or hide from emergency workers
• Emergency response: How emergency personnel respond to situations
• Things to help make your home and family safer: Kitchen safety tips; Home safety tips
Thank you to the organizers as well as the Girl Scouts of Marin for having us support and share these life-saving skills with you!
