[ARCHIVED] East Blithedale Construction Update - July 15, 2022

Work is ongoing to rehabilitate the roadway, and give the community a better driving surface. Work is nearing completion to repair the aging sewer system to provide better sewage flows for residences and businesses. Sidewalk, driveway and curb replacement is underway West of Camino Alto. The work will make it ADA-compliant for disabled residents.

Completion of Milestone:  

The Contractor is making corrections to their work before the City of Mill Valley accepts the completion of the roadway project between Tower Drive and Amicita Avenue (Phase 1).

New This Week:

East Blithedale Rehabilitation Phase 1 (between Tower Drive and Amicita Avenue):
Argonaut Constructors is making corrections on the project punch list. The crew will be in the roadway making corrections. 

East Blithedale Rehabilitation Phase 2 (between  Alta Vista Avenue and Camino Alto):
Argonaut Constructors is demolishing the sidewalk and several driveways along the Northside of East Blithedale. Currently, there are 50 feet of sidewalk along East Blithedale that have been removed from the North East corner of Alta Vista Avenue.  Pedestrians may still use the sidewalk along the Southside. 
Argonaut's sanitary sewer crew is 95% complete with the sanitary sewer rehabilitation.

Marin Municipal Water District Pipeline Replacement:
MMWD is completing waterline service connections along East Blithedale between Amicita Avenue and Elm Avenue (Alta Vista).

Upcoming Work: Week of July 18th

  • Phase 1: Complete the final punch list for acceptance of the Project. 
  • Phase 2: Sidewalk, curb, and driveway demolition along East Blithedale (Northside) between Alta Vista Avenue and Camino Alto. 
  • Phase 3: Demolition existing sidewalk and pour new concrete sidewalk at Sunnyside Ave.
  • Marin Municipal Water District Pipeline Replacement: MMWD contractor will mobilize to West of Elm Avenue to begin water line replacement between Elm Avenue and Dell Lane.

City and Construction Management staff are making efforts to mitigate construction impacts and are collaborating with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to coordinate and notify local businesses of the planned work.
