At the Southern Marin Fire District’s Monthly Board of Directors’ meeting on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, Southern Marin Fire District celebrated two firefighters. First, Fire Chief, Chris Tubbs, administered the Oath Of Office and swearing in ceremony for Firefighter Kevin Zondervan. Then the Fire Chief took time to recognize Firefighter Jake Ielmorini for his heroic actions in saving a life while off-duty.
Southern Marin Fire District also took time to recognize SMFD Firefighter / Paramedic Kenny O’Reilly for receiving the Meritorious Service Medal from California’s Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMSA). Each Year California’s Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMSA) solicits nominations for EMS Awards. Chief Tubbs submitted a nomination for FF/PM Kenny O’Reilly and his actions involving a seriously injured individual on a ship, offshore from Half Moon Bay, in which he received a Letter of Commendation from the Fire Chief.
During the week of May 21st - May 25th, 2023 Firefighter/Paramedic Ryan Mock, Firefighter David Selchau, Firefighter/Paramedic Spenser Scott, and Firefighter Joe Brusati participated in a rescue diver certification course organized by Engineer Joe Frazier through ERDI, a Public Safety Diving agency that trains fire in search and rescue techniques that apply to submerged environments. The joint training included Alameda City Fire Department and took place in Alameda, Novato, and Sausalito.
Prior to training, FF/PM Mock, FF Selchau and FF/PM Scott became the newest members of SMFD to complete their Basic Open Water Dive Certification.
Southern Marin Fire District is proud of honor our personnel and thanks them for their leadership both on-duty and off.
