[ARCHIVED] Mill Valley Residents Featured in Housing Local Community Members

ADU family

Local Mill Valley residents featured on a new county-wide website illustrating how Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) can be used to house the local community. Watch the video to hear the feel good story about renting Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADUs) to a member of the City’s local workforce and strengthening relationships within the community. Jane and Doug Ferguson agreed to share their story to inspire others to do the same.

Help House Mill Valley – one community member at a time! See information below about ADUs and home-sharing opportunities:

  • Accessory Dwelling Unit information: Visit ADUMarin.org to learn more about ADUs and Junior ADUs, including inspiring videos, floor plans, City regulations, and calculator tools to estimate costs.
  • Construction Loans for ADUs: Click here for information on construction loans available from Marin Housing Authority in exchange for renting the ADU to a qualifying low income household.
  • Home Match Program: Do you own a home with an extra room or an ADU? Or, do you know of a local community member making less than $100k looking for housing? Learn about the Home Match program that pairs people based on personal preferences, house types, and interests. In a unique twist on the traditional rental agreement, sometimes the monthly fee is adjusted in exchange for services, such as grocery shopping, pet care, transportation, or other help around the house.
