Councilmember Jim Wickham

Jim Wickham was elected to the City Council in November 2015. Prior to this, Jim served on numerous community boards including the Mill Valley Emergency Preparedness Commission, Mill Valley Soccer Club (Board President), MV Little League, Tam High School Boosters (Board President), and the Board of the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival. He is a past member of the Mill Valley Lions Club and Mill Valley Rotary Club.

In his professional life, Jim retired from the Mill Valley Police Department as Police Captain in December 2010 after 37 years of public service. In 2012, he became the Police Chief of Nevada City and in 2014 took a position as Public Safety Specialist for Pacific Gas & Electric for the north coast counties.

Jim has a B.A. in Management from St. Mary’s College and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. A fourth generation Mill Valley resident, he and his wife Suzie have raised five children in Mill Valley with their youngest still in high school. Two of his grandchildren live here as well. Jim’s father, George E. Wickham, served on the Mill Valley City Council from 1964 to 1970 and as Mayor from 1971 -1972.

Jim enjoys cycling, running, hiking, and being with his family. He cares deeply about Mill Valley and believes strongly in cooperation, communication and collaboration by Council, staff, and the community in achieving common goals.
